Where is the time going? I mean seriously, it’s already May 17! These last three weeks are filled up with senior events, babysitting jobs, and trip preparations. Also, Memorial Day weekend (Friday-Monday), we are heading up to Arrowbear on a family trip. This will be the third time we go during this weekend. It will be a nice trip to kick off the summer, and one last outing as a family before I leave for my trip. I’m so excited for it, but I know I will miss my family so much, especially my parents and baby pooter (aka Oliver). This is really the first time I will be away from them for such a long time. I’m also going to be away from my amazing boyfriend. He is so happy for me, but is already counting down the days until I get back. ;) I know that I am going to be away from many friends and family, but I am so thankful that I’m not leaving God behind. He’s coming with me! Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” If He wasn’t, I know I’d be in trouble, but His true word promises that He is with us wherever we go. What an amazing promise!

A couple days ago my mom bought our plane tickets. It is now official! We leave for Guatemala June 6th, and I graduate from high school June 2nd. I'm so nervous, but very excited at the same time. For graduation, we had to send in a sentence summarizing our plans after high school. I wrote, "Julia is seeking God first and heading to Guatemala to serve at a special needs orphanage." I wish I could say it was easy to come up with this choice, but it wasn't at first, especially when I was hearing everyone else's plans, and these sentences all the time. "Why would you want to do that?" "It's not your responsibility to help them." "What about college?" "There's plenty of time after college for mission trips." I am now though, completely at peace with my decision. I've read many posts about the ministry I'm going to be working with, and I can't wait to be a part of what they're doing. I have seen God work, just in my preparing for the trip. I know He'll do even greater things once I'm there. My mom is flying over with me, and then is coming home June 10th. I will be staying there until July 31st. This month is going to go by so fast!
Thank you so much to all who have donated for my trip. You have no idea how blessed I feel, and what a difference it is going to make. You guys rock!
